In correspondence with the commencement of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2023), Abu Dhabi Police announced a temporary suspension of truck and worker-bus entry to Abu Dhabi Island on Monday, the UAE’s official news agency (WAM) reported on Sunday.
Abu Dhabi truck ban
The ban encompasses all access points to the island, including Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Musaffah Bridge, and Al Maqta’a Bridge.
According to Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in the Central Operations Sector, the ban will be in effect between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Monday. However, vehicles operated by public cleaning companies and those providing logistical support will be exempted from the ban.
Traffic patrols will be deployed on all roadways and traffic monitoring will be intensified across the emirate through smart systems to facilitate a smooth flow of traffic, Al Balushi revealed, calling on all motorists to cooperate and adhere to traffic regulations.

Anticipated delays
The temporary ban is expected to significantly impact traffic across Abu Dhabi, given the high volume of attendees expected at ADIPEC, which stands as one of the largest oil and gas conferences in the world.
Motorists accessing Abu Dhabi Island during the specified ban timeframe are advised to plan their journey to avoid delays, and be mindful of the heightened traffic measures and the fines associated with violating the ban.
