RTA’s marine transport services between Dubai and Sharjah to resume from August

The RTA service will operate eight daily journeys on week days, and six journeys on weekends, offering seamless connectivity between the two emirates.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday the planned resumption of its marine transportation line between Dubai and Sharjah via Dubai Ferry on Friday 4 August.

Enhanced connectivity

The service will operate eight daily journeys from Monday to Thursday, and six journeys from Friday to Sunday, offering seamless connectivity between the two bustling emirates.

The Dubai Ferry service provides an efficient link between Dubai and Sharjah, connecting Al Ghubaiba Marine Station in Dubai and the Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah.

The service launched as part of a collaborative effort between the Roads and Transport Authority in both cities to enhance mobility options and alleviate traffic congestion, as well as offer safe maritime transport options along the extended coastal areas of the two emirates.

The journey between Al Ghubaiba Station and the Sharjah Aquarium Station takes approximately 35 minutes.

Service schedule

On weekdays, the Dubai Ferry will operate two morning journeys departing from Sharjah at 07:00 and 08:30, complemented by one morning journey from Dubai at 07:45.

Meanwhile, evening journeys will include two departures from Sharjah at 16:45 and 18:15, and three from Dubai at 16:00, 17:30, and 19:00.

During the weekends, Friday to Sunday, the RTA service will expand to include six journeys, with three journeys departing from each side starting from noon. Departure times from Sharjah are set for 14:00, 16:00, and 18:00, while the journeys from Dubai will commence at 15:00, 17:00, and 20:00.

A single journey ticket is priced at AED15 for the Silver Class and AED25 for the Gold Class. However, passengers falling under the category of “People of Determination” and children under the age of five can avail of this service entirely free of charge.
