The Oman and Etihad Rail Company, responsible for developing and operating the railway network connecting Oman and the UAE, has invited specialised contractors to submit prequalification bids for the freight facilities, depots, and stations to interlink the two GCC states.
Fostering mutual development
The railway project aims to facilitate passenger and cargo movement between the two countries, creating more job opportunities and promoting sustainable development.
Moreover, the railway link will bolster bilateral economic ties and solidify the connection between the two countries through the development of a secure and efficient railway network spanning 303 kilometres, from Oman’s Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network, inking Oman with Abu Dhabi.

Bidding prerequisites
According to the criteria outlined in the tender document, bidders must either be local companies or part of a joint venture or consortium led by a local company registered in the UAE or Oman, as relevant to the project location.
Moreover, bidders must boast a track record of delivering similar projects involving rail freight facilities, rail passenger stations, and rail maintenance depots within a railway environment.
In addition, bidders must demonstrate a proven history of delivering projects on time and maintaining the highest standards of work quality and design.
Prequalification documents will be available for purchase and download through the e-Payment Services Gateway until 24 August, according to the company.
