Abu Dhabi Terminals and COSCO sign MoU on container trade
Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) and CSP - Abu Dhabi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration and ensure smooth transactions between the two facilities on the side-lines of the inauguration of CSP Terminal – Abu Dhabi.
The MoU promises to increase the cooperation between the two companies, directly benefitting the Abu Dhabi and UAE trade and supporting the Abu Dhabi Leadership vision 2030.
The two parties, ADT & CSP – Abu Dhabi, will facilitate a significant increase in the contribution to the non-oil GDP growth for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Khalifa Port’s growing importance in local, regional and global trade is further cemented by its inclusion as the main regional hub of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, which is expected to be a substantial contributor to the overall growth of Abu Dhabi and the UAE economies as a whole.
The MoU was signed by Abdullah Al Hameli, Acting CEO of ADT and Capt. JU Weiping, Director and General Manager of CSP-Abudhabi and was witnessed by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Chairman of ADT and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports and Captain Xu Lirong, Chairman of China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited.
Abdullah Al Hameli, acting CEO of ADT said the signing of the MoU was of key importance, not only to the two companies, but to the future success of Khalifa Port and its customers.
“Through close collaboration, we aim to significantly support the increase in contribution to the GDP growth of Abu Dhabi,” he said. “This will be done in full support of the Abu Dhabi leadership vision and we expect that this agreement will serve as a spring board for jointly achieving new levels of excellence.”
