Albwardy Damen expands UAE services with new facility in Dubai Maritime City

Albwardy Marine Engineering has expanded to Dubai Maritime City (DMC) from Al Jadaf with the opening of a new shipbuilding and ship repair facility.

With this move, Albwardy Damen anticipates an increase in operations and is optimistic of opportunities to foster strong relations with new clients says Lars Seistrup, managing director, Albwardy Damen.

“Our new Dubai facility will allow us to deliver the same safety and quality as in our Sharjah yard,” he said. “Dubai Maritime City is strategically located at the heart of Dubai, which makes it the most attractive destination and we will deliver a second-to-none service to our customers.”

Founded in Al Jadaf in 1978 by Ali Albwardy, the company recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in the UAE along with its 10th anniversary for a successful joint venture with the Dutch shipyards Damen.

Albwardy Damen earlier this year delivered the world’s largest Rotortug, ART 100-46 the “RT Raven” for a client operating in the offshore field’s unique marine service environment.

An ASD 2913 Tug was also delivered for SAQR Port in July 2018 and a liftboat to Aqua Diving Services.

As of late September 2018, the company owns the busiest syncrolift in the world. During the first half of 2018, Albwardy Damen has built and repaired upwards of 100 vessels and predicts a similar outcome to last year’s tallies, targeting to achieve better results.
