VIDEO: What Amazon’s giant drone-carrying airship would look like

The AFCs would hover at about 13,700 metres and be restocked and resupplied by "shuttles or smaller airships". Amazon did not comment on the footage.

Video footage on YouTube claiming to show Amazon’s giant drone-carrying air ship in operating has gone viral on social media.

The footage is actually fake, created by a Twitter user, and uses Hybrid Air Vehicles’ Airlander 50 prototype as its inspiration.

While the footage itself may be fake, Amazon has indeed filed a patent for just such an airship, which it described as an "airborne fulfilment centre" (AFCs).

The patent was filed in 2014 and discovered in 2016 by Zoe Leavitt, an analyst at technology data and research firm CB Insights.
