The package includes all design and build, civil and track works of the 139km package A of stage two of the UAE national rail network to connect Ruwais with Ghuweifat on the UAE border with Saudi Arabia.
The event was attended by the CEO of Etihad Rail and the CEO of Etihad Rail DB, along with a number of employees of both companies.

The development of the network in the UAE will cost an estimated US $11billion with around 1,200km of track across the Emirates.
Khalifa Port's station will be Etihad Rail's largest, and one train set will transfer a load equivalent to 300 trucks
The agreement was signed by Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, and Saeed Eisa Mohammed Al Khyeli, Director-General of ZonesCorp.
Etihad Rail has recently signed a series of land lease agreements throughout the UAE to secure the rail network’s transport corridors in all the emirates.
Stage Two will extend 605 kilometres from Ghuweifat on the border with Saudi Arabia to Fujairah on the east coast, to be followed by future route additions.
The project will be built in phases to link the principal centres of population and industry of the UAE, and will form a vital part of the planned GCC railway network.
Egis will assist Etihad Rail with the development of stages 2 and 3, which are now scheduled for completion by 2024.
