GCC supermarket chain LuLu boosts export logistics in Philippines
Middle East supermarket giant LuLu Group International has launched its first warehouse facility in the Philippines.
The local unit of the group, May Export Philippines, launched Warehouse No.1 at Calamba Premiere International Park in Calamba, Laguna.
The logistics facility will process and handle dry food, non-food, frozen, and perishable food products and will support Lulu Group’s efforts to speed up exports to the Middle East and ensure their quality.
Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director general Charito Plaza said LuLu Group expressed its intention in October last year to grow in the Philippine market by establishing a warehouse for food products to be exported to the Middle East and other markets where it has an established presence.
Plaza added that LuLu is also considering bringing its supermarket chain to the Philippines, strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia along with its facilities in Malaysia and Indonesia.
May Exports will ship Philippine products such as dry foods, bananas, seafood, fruits and vegetables, dry fish, textiles, electronics, households, furniture and other value added food and non-food products, and other general merchandise.
Lulu Group is a major Middle East retailer with outlets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
