SAL, Menzies Aviation ink agreement to explore better passenger handling solutions

SAL and Menzies Aviation will collaborate to explore ways to improve passenger services, enhance operational efficiency at Saudi airports, and support the kingdom’s Vision 2030 programme objectives to develop the aviation sector.

SAL Saudi Logistics Services signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday with the global ground handling services provider, Menzies Aviation, to conduct a comprehensive study on delivering enhanced passenger handling services for Low-cost carriers at Saudi airports.

Why does it matter?

Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate to explore ways to improve passenger services, enhance operational efficiency at Saudi airports, and support the kingdom’s Vision 2030 programme objectives to develop the aviation sector and upgrade the country’s airports to be on par with the global industry standards.

“This MoU will enable SAL to utilise Menzies’ global capabilities and expertise. It is also aligned with our ambitious vision to become the logistics champion for a globally connected Saudi Arabia,” Faisal Al Bedah, the CEO of SAL Saudi Logistics Services said, adding that the MoU will drive “significant improvements in the kingdom’s airport services, increasing capacity and enhancing the customer experience and satisfaction, in line with the highest international safety and security standards.”

On his part, the CEO of Menzies Aviation, Philipp Joeinig said that the collaboration has a huge potential not only for the businesses involved but also for the country’s broader aviation industry, in line with the Saudi vision 2030 objectives to significantly increase passenger numbers by the end of this decade.

“The agreement strengthens our position and relationships in the Middle East, which is a key market for Menzies as we look to accelerate our growth and bring the highest standards of aviation services to countries all over the world,” he added.

Furthermore, the agreement aligns with the kingdom’s strategy to establish a global position as a leading logistics and supply chain powerhouse.
