The US-headquartered e-commerce giant, Amazon launched a recruitment campaign to hire female delivery associates in Saudi Arabia.

As part of its strategy to create opportunities for women in the logistics and last-mile delivery domains, the company first rolled out its programme in Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, and Dammam.

In 2022, Amazon will further extend the programme to cover Jizan, Al Qassim, Makkah, Madinah, and Al Hofuf, empowering Saudi women to lead successful careers in the e-commerce and last-mile sectors. Amazon will collaborate with local delivery service partners to equip Saudi women with the necessary skills, technology and experience to fulfil their roles’ requirements.

“This is another step in creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women, in support of the Saudi national transformation journey. We are proud to partner with local businesses across the country to level the playing field by offering opportunities for talented women in Saudi Arabia in this future-facing sector,” Amazon MENA Director of Operations, Prashant Saran said, stressing that the company believes that diversity “unlocks different perspectives, enabling us to innovate to serve the evolving needs of our diverse customers.”

Flexible conditions

On her part, the first Saudi female delivery associate, Eman Al Enezi said that “since joining Amazon, I have been extremely impressed with the company’s efforts to support its female delivery associates. Right from day one, I felt at ease thanks to the measures taken to ensure my safety and comfort on the job.”

Al Enezi further highlighted that she is “grateful for the flexibility and excellent working conditions this role offers,” stressing that this “would encourage any woman interested in a fulfilling career with prospects for growth to explore opportunities with Amazon.”
