The UAE’s ports, industrial zones and logistics operator, Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports), appointed a consortium of Jordan’s Dar Al Omran and Maisam Group to develop the master plan for the Marsa Zayed mega-project in Aqaba, Jordan.
The appointment is part of AD Ports’ strategy to develop tourism, transport, logistics and digital infrastructure in the area as well as strengthen Aqaba’s status as a key tourism and business hub.
A shared vision
“AD Ports Group attaches great importance to developing the project in cooperation with leading local companies. The appointment of the consortium of market leaders Dar Al Omran and Maisam Group for the Marsa Zayed development is a manifestation of this philosophy,” AD Ports Group Head of Industrial Cities and Free Zone Cluster Abdullah Al Hameli said.
Al Hameli further stressed that both firms have the local expertise, on-ground experience, and a shared vision of “creating the ambitious projects necessary to drive Aqaba’s position as a major tourism and business destination in the region.”
The project stretches over 3.2 million square metres across the Marsa Zayed site, comprising several districts with residential, retail, food and beverage services, commercial and office space, hotel, and leisure areas.
