Bahrain Air celebrates new flights to Istanbul

Bahrain Air commenced a direct service to Istanbul in Turkey this week. The second national carrier of Bahrain is offering four flights a week during its summer season to Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.

The inaugural flight, which landed on Friday 1st July 2011, was received by a high-level Turkish delegation, including Sabiha Gokcen International Airport chief commercial officer Server Aydin and chief executive officer Gokhan Bugday.

The group welcomed the Bahrain Air delegation, comprising of managing director Ibrahim Abdulla AlHamer and commercial operations director Richard Nuttall.

“We are delighted to launch flights from Bahrain to Istanbul, where we have received such a warm welcome. Not only will the route provide a boost to tourism in Bahrain and Turkey, but it will also support the growing commercial ties between the two countries,” said AlHamer .

“We anticipate this route will enhance the existing passenger and cargo load capacity between the two countries and boost bilateral trade.”

Bahrain Air operates a two-class Airbus A320 to Istanbul, configured to carry 156 passengers with 12 seats in business class and 144 in economy class.
