New guidelines

According to the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, the new requirements are a continuation of its efforts to familiarise food delivery riders with traffic safety rules, avoid traffic accidents, and enhance the safety of road users.

Under the latest guidelines, food delivery boxes must have a width, length, and height of 50 centimetres, and their edges should be covered with a phosphorescent reflector, with no sharp corners.

Additionally, the boxes must have clear identification writing that can be seen from a distance of 20 meters. The front hatch of the box must be made of fibreglass and securely fixed to allow for easy opening.

Finally, the box must be firmly attached to the bike seat or rear saddle and must have the chassis base number printed on it, matching the bike’s base number.
