Abu Dhabi Airports Free Zone (ADAFZ) has increased its tenants by 109% in the first-half of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, and has welcomed major international companies including SMSA Express and Honeywell.

Through furthering the number of companies which work inside ADAFZ, we are able to burgeon Abu Dhabi’s economic future and contribute to the wider growth of the emirate,” said Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports.

Adel Al Taheri, head of property management and leasing at ADAFZ, said that the “strategic investments” the organisation has made in its services and facilities at the three airports provides companies with a “one-stop-shop” to establishing a business in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

“Our investments have proven particularly prudent during the current global pandemic, with our enhanced air cargo and freight transport capabilities supporting the successful operation of the health, food and beverage, and e-commerce sectors,” Al Taheri said.

“We will continue to work with our partners to ensure they can benefit from our range of services as the world emerges from the impact of the pandemic.”

Most of the new tenants at ADAFZ are from the aviation, e-commerce, and healthcare sectors. Companies from both Europe and the Middle East in the ICT, logistics, pharmaceutical and consultancy management sectors are among those to join the free zone.

Honeywell, the international industrial solutions provider, has established a personal protective equipment manufacturing facility in ADAFZ’s Al Ain International Airport free zone, supporting the UAE healthcare sector with critical medical supplies during the Covid-19 outbreak.

In addition, the Saudi express transportation and logistics service provider, SMSA Express, has set up a branch within ADAFZ’s Abu Dhabi International Airport free zone, having established a 1,000 square metre warehouse to be used as its first hub within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, with a primary focus on both air and land cargo shipments.
