Al Khomra Logistics Zone in Saudi now open for private sector investment
Al Khomra Logistics Zone in Jeddah is now open for investment from the private sector, Dr. Nabeel bin Mohamed Al-Amudi, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Transport announced at the 3rd Saudi Logistics Conference in Riyadh.
Al-Amudi said during a keynote speech that Al Khomra will encompass a number of logistics areas and platforms, which will be launched in the coming stage through a comprehensive strategy and pre-planned scheme.
"The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been keen on promoting the various sectors of business and production in the Kingdom to enhance our national economy and promote development. It will drive comprehensive major steps forward for the prosperity of our people, and the well-being of our homeland," he said.
Al-Amudi also praised the achievements of the Saudi transport system in the Global Competitiveness Report 2019, while mentioning the new ranking achieved by the Kingdom in the report's Index, where it jumped to the 36th rank, in addition to making significant progress in the Transportation Infrastructure Index from the 40th to 34th rank, as well as the Train Services Efficiency Index from 50th to 26th this year.
Al Khomra will exceed an area of 2 million square meters in its first phase, and will contribute to the strengthening of the Kingdom's strategic position as a hub in the global trade sector, especially between the three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa.
