Majid Al Futtaim’s digital innovation awarded Retail Supply Chain of the Year
The retail giant Majid Al Futtaim won the Retail Supply Chain of the Year award at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2019 in a closely fought competition between industry heavyweights.
The company was recognised by the judging panel for its agility despite its size, with ground-breaking efforts in e-commerce and new automated Distribution Centres in Dubai.
“It’s a great honour to win this award and it is a huge reward especially for the full team responsible for the retail innovation occurring at Majid Al Futtaim,” said Younis Al Mulla, senior vice president, business development, Majid Al Futtaim.
“What makes ours the best retail supply chain in the region is its flexibility and future-proof design. We’re always looking for ways to bring more products to the region for consumers, at a lower cost and at a faster speed,” he added. “We’re very proud of these efforts not just because it benefits the compay, but because it supports the whole of the UAE.”
Majid Al Futtaim recently inaugurated a new 400 million unit Distribution Centre in Dubai for its Carrefour brand, and has plans in the near future to expand the facility to include automated picking and handling for e-commerce.
These plans were alluded to by Al Mulla. “Next year we’re going to be further enhancing our e-commerce logistics solutions to make it easier and cheeped for our customers,” he said.
