To offset the carbon dioxide emissions being released by its 46 delivery pickups into the atmosphere, Makati Express Cargo has launched its 'Recycling Can Drive' across the UAE to support the Can Collection project of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

The first recycling initiative by EEG was in 1997 when it urged companies, hotels, schools, organizations and private individuals to turn over aluminium beverage cans to collection centres or to its headquarters.

For 2018, EEG is trying to collect 28,000 kilograms and Makati Express would like to be a contributory factor in reaching the target.

"We will inform all our customers to do their own collection of aluminium cans and then call us to pick them up. We suggest that they store the cans in a big plastic trash bag," said Augusto ‘Marz’ Marcial of Makati Express Cargo and Prime Express International Couriers.

Achieving the target will result in the mitigation of greenhouse gases equivalent to more than 400 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide from the UAE Environment.
