UACC picks up pair of tankers

Dubai based owners spends $70m on pair.

Dubai based chemical transporter United Arab Chemical Carriers has picked up a pair of four-year old tankers for $70million.

Brokers from Europe claim UACC paid $35m each for the 45,612-dwt Bunga Balsam and the 45,337-dwt Bunga Bakalawi.

The two MR tankers were built in 2010 by Korean yard SLS Shipbuilding.

UACC has been busy investing in new tonnage this year, having already purchased two other tankers in January for a total of $56m.

These new acquisitions bring UACC’s total fleet to 17, almost all of them are MR tankers.

Earlier this year UACC announced that Per Wistoft has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer, joining the company from Brightoil Shipping in Singapore, where he held the position as CEO.
