Dubai International was the world’s fifth busiest cargo airport in 2013, according to figures from Airports Council International.

The home airport of Emirates SkyCargo handled 2.43 million tonnes of loaded and unloaded freight and mail, a year on year increase of 7.4%.

DXB recorded the highest growth of any airport in the top ten and rose one place in the ranking, taking fifth place from Anchorage.

At the top of the ranking, Hong Kong was again number one, handling 4.15 million tonnes of cargo. Memphis, Shanghai and Incheon retained second, third and fourth places in the ranking.

Paris, eighth in 2012, fell to 11th in the ranking after a year on year traffic decline of 3.3%.
