Aswan sells bulker for scrap

Qatar company nets close to $2.7m.

Qatari company Aswan Trading & Construction is reported to have sold one of its two vessels.

In its latest demolition report, London brokers Seasure says Aswan sold the 21,700-dwt Paula 1 (built-1981) for scrap to India.

Seasure says the vessel was sold as is in Doha, with the deal including bunkers for the voyage to India.

Aswan is said to have accepted a price of $2.69m.

It purchased the vessel in 2006, paying $7.5m to acquire it from Greek company Omni Blue Shipping.

The Doha-based company now has one final ship in its fleet, the 37,200-dwt Paula 2 (built-1982).
