Tomini nets $9m from tanker sale
Tomini Shipping is reported to have sold its last tanker for scrap to Pakistan.
Brokers suggest the Dubai-headquartered firm sold the 110,500-dwt Salix (built-1994) for almost $9m.
The aframax, built in Croatia, was purchased by Tomini from Tankerska Plovidba for $11m in 2011.
The sale is part of Tomini’s fleet renewal plans and follows an announcement earlier this month that it had ordered nine new bulkers.
Chairman Imtiaz Shaikh says the Dubai based company has a target of at least 20 new vessels over the next few years.
“We intend to continue ordering new ships consistently over the next years with a minimum target of at least 20 ultramax vessels,” Shaikh said.
The Dubai-based Pakistani shipowner ordered the 64,000-dwt eco-design vessels at China Shipbuilding Industry Corp.
