DP World has been awarded a five-star rating for its Jebel Ali terminals by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), becoming the first international port operator to obtain the industry standard.

The Dubai-based company received the honour following a recent visit by EFQM assessors, who conducted a detailed evaluation of DP World's port operations in Jebel Ali. The assessment process also included meetings with a number of senior management officials and employees throughout the company.

"This five star certification reinforces the high operational standards of DP World, which have been built over the years and reflects our strong commitment to the highest levels of quality in the services we provide," commented Mohammed Al Muallem, senior vice president and managing director of DP World in the United Arab Emirates.

"Our leadership, operations management efficiency, strategic planning and adherence to the highest international quality standards have earned DP World this international acclaim, distinction and recognition," he added.

DP World has received a number of acknowledgements for its Dubai operations in recent years, including the Dubai Quality Award in 2002, Dubai Government Excellence Award (Gold) in 2005, and the Outstanding Achievement Award at last year's Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA).
