Road repairs complete in UAE Western Region and Al Ain
The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has announced the completion to repairs and maintenance of 796.5 kilometres of highways in the Western Region and 850 kilometres of roads in Al Ain city, the Khaleej Times has reported.
Work in the Western Region covered the Jumaniat-Silaa, Sliaa-Ghweifat, Abu Dhabi"Silaa-Madinat Zayed, Madinat Zayed-Muziara, Abu Dhabi"Silaa-Ghayathi, Ghayathi-Arada, Sahel-Hamim, Arada-Brair, Madinat Zayed-Ghayathi, Madinat Zayed"Ghayathi-Bainunah, Al Ruwais Road, Al Ruwais Road at interchange number 5 towards Jabal Al Dhanah Road, and Ras Gmais to Gaga Island.
While Al Ain work included 850 kilometres of the total length of 17 roads, 13 bridges, 41 underpasses, 150 electronic gates, and 373 camel crossings.
The newspaper quoted Faisal Al Suwaidi, director general of main roads at the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, as saying: "The DoT pays great attention to maintenance and rehabilitation of roads. Such projects are in line with the Department's strategy aimed to build world-class, integrated and sustainable transport infrastructure that help fuel the emirate's socio-economic development and its key priorities of promoting a more prosperous future for generations to come."
