Petrol stations in the UAE will accept Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards from today, the National has reported.

Emarat, ENOC and EPPCO will accept cards for all transactions, with a Dh2 service fee applicable for fuel sales. No charges would be incurred for other services at the petrol stations.

Fuel distribution companies in the UAE stopped accepting credit/debit cards for fuel transactions in 2007.

“The resumption of the facility aims to enhance customer convenience while addressing the operational costs involved in providing credit/debit card payment facility,” the petrol companies said in a joint statement.
