10 Syrian seamen missing after cargo ships collide
Ten Syrian seamen are missing following a collision between two cargo ships off the coast of Southern Greece, AP has reported.
The Cook Islands-flagged Piri Reis, which was carrying a cargo of fertiliser, sank after colliding with the Anigua-flagged Consouth early on Monday morning.
Seven of the PIri Reis’ seamen were saved, with air and sea searches underway for the remaining crew.
The Consouth was sailing without freight from Turkey to Malta, carrying a 16-man crew; none of whom were injured.
