The Jordanian Logistics Association (JLA) has received the support of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to develop the emerging market for multi-modal transportation in Jordan.

Senior officials from both organisations recently attended a seminar at JLA's headquarters in Shmeisani to discuss their plans to drive forward the growth of Jordan's airfreight sector and establish the country as a leading hub for the transportation industry.

"IATA is encouraged by the recent establishment of the Jordanian Logistics Association, which will surely contribute to the development of the country's airfreight sector," commented Shamel Al-Shishani, IATA's country manager in Jordan.

"We look forward to working together in the future on a number of initiatives to push forward the local air cargo agenda and support Jordan's contribution to both the local and international agenda of the industry," he added.

Various other topics were also discussed during the seminar, including the role Jordan can play in IATA's international e-freight project, which is designed to eliminate the need to produce and transport paper documents for air cargo shipments.
