RAK agrees deal for Russian charter flights
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has signed an agreement which will see the introduction of charter flights from Russia to the emirate.
The deal has been inked with Russian tour operator Natalie Tours in cooperation with Alpha Tours to launch twice weekly charter flights from Moscow to Ras Al Khaimah running from the end of October through to the end of April 2013.
The charter flights will be the first to directly connect Moscow with Ras Al Khaimah and is expected to bring an extra 7,000 Russian tourists to the emirate over that period.
Tourist chief believe this will translate into an anticipated increased demand of 17,000 room nights for Ras Al Khaimah hotels.
Victor Louis, chief operating officer for the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: "Russia has always been a market set in our sights for further development in helping us reach our strategic goal of 1.2 million visitors by 2013.
"Both our partner Natalie Tours and indeed ourselves are confident that our rising emirate will prove a popular new destination for many Russians as a standalone destination or in combination with other emirates."
The direct Moscow charter flights are the culmination of numerous marketing and public relations efforts including a roadshow in June to the cities of Kazan, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Ekateringburg and Samara, as well as Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk and Surgut in July.
The Russian charter flights that are expected to seat 156 passengers per flight, will run twice a week on Tuesday and Fridays and will be operated by Transaero Airlines.
