Fujairah International Airport in the UAE has invited Cargo Airlines to approach them with a view to establishing a regional hub at the venue.

Destinations in India, Pakistan, Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS countries are initial scheduled cargo routes expected to be in operation after the successful airline has been chosen.

Business growth is in on a rise in the emirate with the news of an overland pipeline from Abu Dhabi that will allow crude oil to bypass the Strait of Hormuz by exiting through Fujairah – making the city’s port the largest bunker port in the world.

More than 500 oil and gas companies have now registered in Fujairah with many more expected imminently.

The airport is also benefitting from military logistics taking place in the region due to its close proximity to the Port of Fujairah. Humanitarian flights have also increased due to the airport’s flexibility to handle operations at short notice.

New shopping malls, schools, hospitals and tourist attractions have been planned for the city to cope with the expected increase in population and visitors.
