Mercedes to launch short-radius distribution truck
Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch a new distribution truck later this year, named the Antos.
Mercedes-Benz says it will become the first manufacturer to have a truck series specifically developed for the short-radius distribution transport industry.
The truck will feature a 2.30 metre-wide cab, available in either short 'S' or medium-size 'M' versions, with the styling showing the heavy influence of the popular Actros model.
In line with the varying work requirements there is a wide variety of options, including 13 power categories, ranging from 175 kW to 375 kW. The engine complies with the Euro VI emission standard.
The new vehicles are available as either platform trucks or tractor units in a total of 67 different wheelbase lengths, with the axle spacing ranging from a minimum of 2650 mm up to a maximum of 6700 mm.
Driver assist features include a by a fully automated PowerShift transmission, and the Active Brake Assist, which reacts to stationary obstacles.
Test-camouflaged vehicles have been snapped by the motor press in Europe, though the vehicle will be formally launched at the Commercial Vehicle IAA in Hannover in September, when it will also go on sale.
