Gulf Warehousing Company signs contract with Pearl GTL
Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has announced it has been awarded the contract to manage the storage of chemical material used in the Pearl Gas to Liquids project at Ras Laffan, Qatar Shell GTL.
Under the contract, which is effective as of October 2011, GWC will provide logistical support for the handling and storage of chemical material procured for use in the GTL facility at Ras Laffan.
The firm expects its 16,000 square metre, ISO-certified and government approved warehouse for third-party storage of hazardous materials at Ras Laffan, is well equipped to cater to the logistics requirements of Qatar’s oil and gas industry.
First launched in 2009, the warehouse covers all health, safety and environmental requirements for chemical storage, including gas leak detectors, spill kits, containment tanks, as well as fire-fighting systems.
“During the past two years we have focused on developing our chemical logistics solutions for our oil and gas customers, increasing our capacity for hazardous materials’ freight movements, storage and distribution. This has also helped us position ourselves strategically to win more business and we’re extremely pleased to be awarded this contract with Shell-GTL,” said Nader Hakim, director of contract logistics.
Representatives from both companies signed the contract last week. The Pearl GTL project is jointly developed by Qatar Petroleum and Shell.
