Saudia diverts Boeing 777 to UAE after smoke concerns

Smoke was reported in cockpit by the national carrier's crew members.

Saudi Arabian Airlines was forced to divert a Boeing 777-200 with 174 passengers onboard to Abu Dhabi this week, after crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

According to a report in the Aviation Herald, the aircraft was performing flight SV-832 from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpur when the incident occurred on 18th November 2011.

The aircraft was able to land on runway 31R at Abu Dhabi International Airport around 35 minutes after the smoke was detected. However, responding emergency services found no trace of fire or heat.
