UAE-based Tristar Transport wins Arabia CSR 2011 Award

Transport firm acknowledged for best practices in CSR implementation.


UAE-based Tristar Transport has been named as winner of the Arabia CSR Award in the Best Newcomer category, during the 4th Arabia CSR Awards held in Dubai recently.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and CEO of the Emirates Group, and Chairman of Dubai Airports, the Arabia CSR Awards are aimed at recognizing Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability initiatives being taken by businesses and governmental institutions in the Arab world.

The event was chaired by leading CSR experts and thinkers from Emirates Environmental Group, the United Nations, Save the Children Foundation, the Asian Institute of Management, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the UAE, the Council General Switzerland and other dignitaries.

“The Arabia CSR Award further acknowledges Tristar’s total commitment towards making CSR an essential part of its operational and decision-making strategies,” said Eugene Mayne, Group CEO of Tristar Transport. “Such activities that contribute to sustainable development are an integral part of Tristar’s day-to-day business operations and we do this without compromising on health, safety and environmental issues.”

Since its establishment in 1998, Tristar has undertaken several important CSR activities spanning the globe, including building of a primary school in South Sudan, spreading road safety awareness to communities and schools in the UAE, blood donation campaigns, flood relief assistance for Pakistan, and beach clean-up programs.

Tristar is also an active member of the UN global compact formed by the UN to engage the corporate sector in promoting human rights, abolishment of child labour, anti-corruption and investment in the community.
