Tyre bursts on Saudia Boeing 777 at Riyadh airport

Incident occurs on Cairo-bound flight with 296 passengers on board.

The nose wheel tyre on a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-200 burst on takeoff from Riyadh this week, according to the Aviation Herald.

The incident occurred on flight SV-313 from Riyadh to Cairo on 17th July 2011, leaving pieces of rubber on the airport runway. Almost 300 passengers were on board at the time.

The airline’s crew opted to continue the flight and the aircraft was safely landed with emergency services on standby.

According to the Saudi Arabian Airlines website, the aircraft ferried back to Riyadh without passengers departing Cairo about 1:45 hours past schedule.
