TNT Express receives SA8000 certification in Saudi
TNT Express Saudi Arabia has been recognised for the quality of its working conditions, with the announcement it has received an SA8000:2008 certificate.
The SA8000 (Social Accountability 8000) is based on the principles of international standards regarding working conditions that are contained in treaties of the International Labor Organisation, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The main attention of SA8000 is paid to the improvement of labor conditions throughout the world.
Martyn Wright, managing director for TNT Express Saudi Arabia, said: “This is a milestone achievement since we are the first company in the Kingdom to receive this certificate. It is a testament to the efforts put in by the management and the employees to making a professional and successful workplace.”
Issued by IQ Net (Vincotte) International, the auditors visited TNT Express offices and warehouses at Jeddah and Dhahran to interview the employees and review and assess the standards for managing the workplace over a period of 3 years.
