Airbus wins firm orders for revamped A320
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and SAS have signed firm orders for 60 and 30 A320neo planes respectively.
The neo is the revamped version of the A320, scheduled to be ready in 2015.
The orders were announced at this week’s Paris Air Show, along with a memorandum of understanding from Air Lease Corporation to acquire 50 A320neo planes.
Last week, Philippines-based Cebu Pacific announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire 30 A321neo planes. The A321 is a longer version of the A320.
The A320neo incorporates new, more efficient engines and wing tip devices, known as ‘sharkets’, which help increase fuel efficiency by up to 15%.
