DHL Express has today introduced a new next-day intercontinental route between the U.S. and the Middle East to help meet growing demand for services between the two regions.

The new direct flight route, which will connect Cincinnati and Bahrain, is aimed at facilitating the increasing trade between North America and the Middle East, shortening delivery time by one day.

As part of the programme, DHL is also investing in a training scheme for all employees designed to improve customer service levels.

Designed by DHL, employees will undergo a Certified International Specialist (CIS) training programme which is aimed at increasing employees’ knowledge of changing international business and enhancing customer satisfaction. By October 2011, all DHL Express employees in the Middle East will have completed the training program as part of a global training initiative.

Ken Allen, chief executive officer of DHL Express, said: “We understand that our employees are what makes us the number one express company. We are committed to investing in them to ensure that DHL has a competitive edge to succeed in the global marketplace."
