Barloworld gives to charity in the Middle East
Recent office and warehouse restructures to the Middle East operation of logistics firm Barloworld has seen many unused items donated to charity.
The old warehouses and offices contained many unused items such as furniture, carpets, file cabinets, refrigerators, microwaves, and crockery items, all of which were donated to needy families.
While screening for a reliable recipient, the company was referred to Al Ihsan Charity Centre in Ajman which provides assistance to poor families who do not have an income, including widows, divorcees, deserted women and disabled families. It also contributes by providing orphans and fatherless children with comprehensive care by meeting their needs and the needs of their families.
“Considering their wide range of charity projects and large number of beneficiaries, we were happy to hand over these goods them”, said Sanjay More, head of marketing and communications for Barloworld Logistics.
“After the success of our employees’ contribution to the Pakistan flood cause, we have been looking for another opportunity to give back to the communities in which we operate. I see this as only a beginning and we are planning to have a fully fledged programme wherein each employee of Barloworld can volunteer a day of their work lives for a social cause,” he added.
