Air Arabia medical scare leads to flight diversion
Air Arabia diverted a flight to Saudi Arabia yesterday, after one of its passengers experienced the symptoms of a heart attack.
The low-cost carrier was travelling to Alexandria International Airport in Egypt when the incident occurred soon after takeoff, prompting a diversion to Hail Airport.
The passenger was transported to a local hospital, while the aircraft remained in Hail for around one-and-a-half hours before resuming its journey.
"The affected passenger was transported to the hospital upon landing in Hail, where necessary treatment has been given," said the statement. "Air Arabia regrets any inconvenience caused to its passengers due to this flight diversion and assures that the safety of its passengers remains the company's highest priority.”
