Saudi Arabian Airlines sets privatisation deadline
Saudi Arabian Airlines is aiming to complete its privatisation by the second quarter of 2013, a senior official has claimed.
“We have suffered many delays due to the size of the airlines and the many activities we are involved in, however these delays are natural,” Abdullah Al Ajhar, vice president of public relations, told Bloomberg in response to emailed questions.
The national carrier’s cargo, ground services, aviation academy and maintenance units were initially scheduled to be privatised last year, but the process has only been completed for the cargo and catering units, with ground services to follow later this year.
International consultants have also been appointed to speed up the process, confirmed Al Ajhar, without naming the companies.
