Parsons-AECOM to oversee UAE railway construction
Parsons-AECOM has won the project management consultancy contract for the UAE’s national railway.
The joint venture company will manage implementation of the first phase of the project and the design of the subsequent two phases.
“This is a significant win for Parsons, and we look forward to managing the project,” said Guy Mehula, Parsons MENA+ president.
When the Etihad Rail project is completed, there will be a 1200km freight and passenger rail network built across the UAE’s seven emirates. The work will be done in phases, with stage one linking the gas fields of Shah and Habshan to Ruwais.
The value of the Parsons-AECOM contract was not disclosed. The budget for the entire Etihad Rail network is officially US $10.9 billion.
