Qatar Airways and Qtel have announced the migration of the airline’s primary IT infrastructure to a purpose-built Qtel data centre.

The centre is designed to ensure high availability and scalability for companies that base their IT operations there.

Qatar Airways chief executive officer, Akbar Al Baker, said: “By investing in the world’s best infrastructure backbone supported by a leading Qatari partner, Qatar Airways is ensuring that we have the foundations for the further growth and development of our services.

“With Qtel’s support, we have successfully migrated our primary IT infrastructure to this new facility and can reap the full benefits of enhanced capacity and improved reliability.”

Qatar Airways and Qtel have signed a 15 year technology partnership, under which they will seek to co-develop IT services for third party companies.

Qatar Airways’ disaster recovery infrastructure will also be migrated to a purpose-built Qtel centre.
