Bahrain port regulator bags ISO certification
Bahrain’s General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP), the country’s ports regulator, has achieved ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) certification.
To achieve the certification, GOP developed and implemented a thorough quality assurance system within every department of the organisation.
GOP chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa said: “The ISO certification is a significant milestone for the GOP, reaffirming our commitment to Total Quality Management.
“At GOP, we have ensured that an effective quality management system is in place and every department has worked tirelessly towards achieving greater efficiency at all levels.”
ISO inspectors look at all aspects of company operations, including training, customer service, procurement and service delivery.
DNV was the company appointed by ISP to evaluate the GOP’s quality management system.
The GOP was created in September 2006 with a brief to regulate the country’s ports in line with international standards.
ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) is one of the world’s largest developer and publishers of international industrial standards.
ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 163 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that co-ordinates the system.
