Holy man detained for Jet Airways bomb hoax
A religious man and his disciples were handed to Indian police officials at Varanasi Airport this week, after making a reported bomb hoax on a Jet Airways flight from Delhi.
The passenger, who was dressed as a Sahdu (holy man), was involved in an altercation with a fellow passenger and told him to “shut up or a bomb will explode”, reported the Times of India.
Crew members on the Boeing 737-800 took the warning seriously and reported the matter to India’s Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Police found no traces of explosives on board and the plane was allowed to take-off for its next destination in Khajuraho, leading to a four-and-a-half hour delay for passengers.
