Isa Al Ansari has been promoted to chief supply chain officer of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba).

The position was introduced into Alba’s executive management team after an organisational restructure in September 2009.

Al Ansari, who will be reporting to chief executive Laurent Schmitt, will be responsible for the supervision, regulation and monitoring of all planning, purchase and procurement. In addition, he will comply with all standard operating procedures in supply chain, appoint and evaluate appropriate vendors and develop procurement-related strategy.

"As Alba continues to embark on its goal of being operationally efficient and globally competitive, the role of a supply chain officer at an executive level will prove crucial in the success of this goal. Some of the procurement related decisions and actions concerned with the streamlining of the supply chain processes need to be taken at a senior level,” commented Schmitt.

“Isa Al Ansari has demonstrated his capabilities through his former position as procurement manager that he is the right man for this job, and it is our privilege to expand the executive management team by appointing him to this position, and in the process, reiterate the company's support for Bahrainisation at the senior decision making level,” he added.

Al Ansari joined Alba in 1983 as an apprentice and rose through the ranks to reach the management level. He has worked in various departments.
