A recent seminar organised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has been hailed a success, with over 150 attendees from companies such as Emirates SkyCargo, Agility, Clarion Shipping Middle East and Dnata.

The event, which took place at Emirates Aviation College, was the first networking session held by CILT’s United Arab Emirates branch since 2006 and focused on the latest challenges that are affecting the logistics industry. Speakers included the association’s regional director Alex Borg and section president Mohammed Al Khaja, in addition to Dubai Logistics City general manager Mohsen Al Awadhi and Emirates SkyCargo divisional senior vice president Ram Menen.

“CILT has recently benefited from a restructuring programme in the United Arab Emirates and we wanted to send out a message that we’re back in town, stronger than ever and ready to serve our members and the logistics industry as a whole,” explained Borg. “Invitations were extended to logistics professionals throughout the country and we’re very satisfied with the turnout, especially since the event was organised in three weeks and still attracted a significant number of attendees.

Following the positive response, CILT has already started to plan a series of follow-up events, which are scheduled to take place in June and October 2009. “We will evaluate the feedback from the recent seminar and organise the next events accordingly,” said Borg. “It’s important to sustain this momentum and interact with the industry on relevant topics. Sharing information and knowledge is our main objective.”
