DAE University nurtures future talent
DAE University, the new educational institute being established by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), has unveiled a range of scholarships that it will offer to students for its first academic year. The Dubai-based university, which is opening its doors for the first time this October, is offering ten individual scholarships across two of its Masters courses.
“It is our mission to champion the development of those who will be integral to the aerospace industry of tomorrow,” said Dr George H. Ebbs, CEO of DAE University. “To do this, we aim to attract students of the highest calibre as we start our first academic year at DAE University, and these scholarships will enable us to attract a broader range of students than would otherwise have been possible.”
Four scholarships are being offered for the university’s MSc course in Airport Planning & Management, sponsored by DAE Airports, the airport development division of DAE. During the one-year course, students must complete seven modules ranging from Airport Design to Airport Business Management, group projects and seminars, along with a research thesis.
Six scholarships are being offered for the MSc course in Aerospace Vehicle Design, three sponsored by DAE Engineering, the aviation maintenance and support division of DAE, and three by DAE Manufacturing, the research & development, manufacturing and assembly division. The one-year course includes a group design project, an individual thesis, and a lecture course along with two design options. Each of the scholarships lasts for one year, and covers the tuition fees for the course being undertaken.
Scholarship students will be selected on the basis of their previous academic qualifications and financial background. DAE is a new aerospace services company established in Dubai in February 2006. Its backers include Emaar, Istithmaar, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA), Dubai International Capital, Dubai International Financial Centre, the Government of Dubai and Amlak Finance.
The company is made up of six divisions: DAE Capital, DAE Manufacturing, DAE Airports, DAE University, DAE Engineering and DAE Services. It is forming international partnerships with the aim of quickly establishing itself as a global aerospace services giant. DAE University recently unveiled a 20-year partnership with Cranfield University, which will validate the university’s programmes and provide it with specialist tutors.
