The Silent Aircraft Initiative
Researchers in the UK and US claim they have invented a new aircraft design that is quieter, greener and could contribute to reducing climate change.
The Silent Aircraft Initiative (SAI) team have devised the SAX-40, developed by the Cambridge-MIT Institute, as a radically different shape of aircraft.
It has a “blended wing” and a tailless wedge-shaped body with two bat-wings.
Airlines are concerned with fuel costs and the SAX-40 is said to be 35% more fuel efficient than any airliner currently flying.
