Agthia opens second distribution centre in UAE for food logistics
UAE food and beverage company Agthia Group has opened its second food distribution centre in the country as part of its recently launched government partnership programme.
The opening of the new center in Abu Dhabi was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Khalifa Al Ali, director general of Food Security Center-Abu Dhabi.
In an effort to provide customers with even greater convenience and an improved shopping experience, the new distribution centre located at the Agthia Bakeries in Al Wathba provides a larger, more easily accessible store, and replaces the original store that was located in Port Zayed, Abu Dhabi.
These stores allow members of a wide range of government organisations to purchase various products at discounted prices. The Ministry of Interior (Fazaa), Homat Al Watan, Abu Dhabi Pension, Sheikh Khalifa Foundation and many others, are participating in the growing programme.
The opening of the new distribution centre coincides with the addition of a home delivery service. After completing their shopping, customers can now choose to have their items delivered to their preferred location.
Khalifa Al Ali, director general of Food Security Center-Abu Dhabi said: “Our vision at the Food Security Center, Abu Dhabi is to ensure that all citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates have easy access to food that is healthy and nutritious at all times and in all circumstances. We are pleased to witness the work that Agthia is doing with its partners on this initiative and are excited to see the program expand across the country.”
Tariq Ahmed Al Wahedi, CEO of Agthia, said: “As our program grows with the addition of more partners and the opening of more facilities, we are proud to be standing by our commitment to provide local communities with convenient access to high-quality food and beverage products closer to their homes. We are encouraged by the progress so far and are excited about the addition of home delivery.”
Agthia launched its first store in Um Al Ramool in Dubai in August this year, and plans to expand further into Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah in the future.
Agthia manages brands such as Al Ain water, Capri Sun and Yoplait, together with Grand Mills flour and Agrivita animal feed.
