FedEx takes eye hospital to the skies at Dubai Airshow
FedEx Express hosted a tour of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital at the Dubai Airshow. Showcasing its three decade relationship with Orbis.
FedEx Express provides the plane that Orbis uses as its flying eye hospital to achieve its vision of a world in which no one is needlessly visually-impaired.
The tour was led by Taarek Hinedi, vice president of FedEx Express Middle East and Africa Operations, and Bruce Johnson, director, aircraft operations, Orbis.
Since 1982, FedEx has facilitated the humanitarian efforts of Orbis International, a nonprofit, humanitarian organization dedicated to saving sight in the developing world.
The ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital has visited 92 countries to date and conducted 287 training and service programs in 160 cities.
FedEx provides financial, operational and logistical support to Orbis as well as access to the world through its global networks, including volunteer pilots and providing maintenance and ground support, serving as translators, and helping to transport medical supplies.
