Emirates introduces first mobiles on 777
Emirates has become the first airline to introduce in-flight mobile phone services on a Boeing aircraft.
The technology, which was installed in July, allows passengers to made calls and send SMS text messages whilst flying on the 777-300. Emirates’ management introduced the service to Boeing flights following its success on the carrier’s Airbus aircraft earlier this year.
Patrick Brannelly, Emirates’ vice president of passenger communications and visual services said the new system, which is currently operating on flights to Europe and Australia, was another example of the airline’s dedication to groundbreaking technology and passenger services.
“Travellers booked on the Boeing 777, which carries the in-flight mobile phone services, will now be able to communicate with family, friends or business associates on the ground whilst travelling in the skies.”
